Aight, first off, shit was off the fucking hook. One of the best shows I've been to ever, and Dre and Snoops performance was magnificent. With that outta the way, let's get going. We got the Ampitheater at about 6:15 for the 7:00 start. There's a fucking HUGE lineup to get in, so we tried getting in through the Ontario Place entrance, with no luck, so back to the end of line. Luckily, the shit moved very fast. At the ticket takers, they had the usual security and pat downs etc., but it was interesting to note that after about 20 minutes of watching them metal detect people, they stopped when this big black security guy showed up. I didn't really take notice of this until after we got in, when we overheard some Ampitheatre employee talkin into a 2-way, saying how this guy was screwing up their security measures and so on. I guess since it was so close to 7, and the Ampitheatre was still pretty empty, someone from the crew was told to go out to the entrance and speed things up, hence the discarding of the metal detection. Oh well, no one appeared to get stabbed during the show, so I guess it was alright. One more funny thing before we got in...they did the usual checking of cigarette packs, keys, wallets etc, but some herb had stashed all his weed in his cigarette pack. So right there in front of us, 3 of T.O.'s finest pulled out about 20 joints....fucking tool puts his weed in his pack? What a novice. Anyways, it was funny to see this kid get busted. One thing that I noticed upon getting in was that about 90-95% of the audience was white. No lie. There were almost NO black people or people of any colour. Kinda shocked me actually. When we went to see the Hard Knock Life tour last year, it was about 50/50, but not this time. So we get to our seats, which were primo boxes...beautiful view, nice room, and we didn't have to worry about jerkoffs standing in our line of site...At about 7:05, Warren G appears and starts up his set. He plays his newest single off his latest album, another track, then Regulate, and then he's out, after something like 15 minutes. I was kinda shocked by this, because he barely did anything. Anyways, Nate wasn't there either. To but it bluntly, Warren sucked anyways...no presence, and he had two similarly presenceless(word?) fools on stage with him too....A factor in his shittiness could have been the fact that the 16,000 seat auditorium only had about 3000 peeps in it at this point... So Warren G steps off, and out comes the black curtain covering the stage, and some comic from The Jamie Foxx show.....I wish I could remember his name. He's also been in The Players Club.... Anyways, he goes on to give a comedy act between prop setup....fucking hilarious! I can't give this guy enough props...he kept the crowd engaged, and was really really funny.....at one point, he asked for all the black people to make some noise, at which point crickets could be heard. He then asks for all the white people to do the same to a thunderous response, after which he made a statement about none of the brothers picking a fight tonite....pretty funny stuff....anyways, next up is ice cube. By this time, the auditorium was about 2/3 full. There were a bunch of hard core cube heads in the building, but except for the recognizable hits, no one really gave a rats ass. Personally, I thought Cube came off nice. First track was Hello, and Ren came out to a HUGE pop, but they stopped at Dre's part.About 2 songs in, out came WC and Mack 10, to a fairly lukewarm reception. They did the whole "Fuck You Ice Cube" thing after Cube disappeared after 3 songs, and finished the set. Alright but nothing spectacular. The set props were really nice though. Out came the comic again afterwards, and made me bust another gut laughing. Next up was Eminem. I was expecting a whole lot from this, and I was kinda disappointed, although still happy. Before he started, they plugged the upcoming D12 album....then Em came on with Proof. The chicks absolutely adore this kid BTW. His set consisted of about 7 or 8 songs, all of which, except for The Real Slim Shady, were stopped after one verse, much to my dismay. Proof did nothing but act as a hypeman. I was kinda hoping for a little bit of banter or a freestyle session or something between them, but it didn't happen. At one point, Em addressed his whole marriage situation, and said everything was cool between him and Kim, and then said she was there with him. He then brought out a blow up doll, and pretended that it was fellating him. Funny stuff. Ended the set off with The Real Slim Shady, which had huge audience participation, and left the stage. Before I move on, I've got to make note of the shitty props they used for his set. The had and Eminem sign, very simple, and then halfway through, they blew up two huge hands with middle fingers up. Very campy. Whatever. Out came the comic, and had me crying again. After about 25 minutes of setup, Dre and Snoop started up. A video was the start. It was Dre and Snoop in a hotel getting chicks all over the place. It then moves to a convenience store where they're trying to hook up an ounce of weed. While they're there, a robbery attempt happens, and they get into a gunfight. Of course, they get the upper hand. A scary part was that in the video, Dre and Snoop have the last guy wounded and are standing over him, and they ask the crowd if they should kill the guy--- everyone went fucking nuts for them to do so, which kinda freaked me, because they were cheering for someone to be murdered...anyways, maybe I'm reading too much into it. So out they come to the strains of The Next Episode. Before I go on, let me make note of the stage. They had an incredible setup, with 2 movie screens, a huge skull overhead, and a recreation of a ghetto underneath it all. Very nice.Everything they did musicwise was eaten up. I've gotta say that I was impressed by the crowd. I thought everyone had come to see Eminem, judging by the predominance of white 14 year old girls and boys, but Dre and Snoop's audience pop was bigger than anything that night. They went through some stuff from the Chronic and Doggystyle, and then Xzibit popped out of fucking nowhere, which made me so happy I screamed like a little girl. He did the first verse from the Year 2000, and then did Bitch Please with Snoop. I can't describe how happy I was when X to the Z was on. He brought this crazy energy, and seemed to liven up Snoop quite a bit. Anyways, I think it was around this point where they had a PSA with Mel Man, in which they stated that you can't make a whore a housewife, followed by a video of some chick blowing a guy. While this is going on, the husband comes home, and the other guy jets. The husband walks in and kisses his wife on the mouth, which prompts Dre to state that that shit happens all the time, and y'all don't even know it.... definitely funny moment for sure. They then ripped through all the hits off of 2001. What's the Difference, Forgot About Dre and Still DRE, which also heralded the arrival of an actual car on stage with all the hydraulics, and Snoop bouncing it up and down on stage...awesome..... Anyways, at some point in all this, they also did some tribute stuff, which included, Roger Troutman, Big Pun, Biggie, Eazy E, and 2Pac. Crowd went bananas for pac.....they did California Love and Snoop cut off the song at pac's part and said something that I thought was a diss, but evidently Snoop just wanted to do that track he had done with Pac (whose name escapes me now), so they did it....Pretty cool segment overall, and the crowd was so massively into the pac stuff, and interestingly not too much cheering was going on for biggie (although I gave it my all). Anyways to end this long ass post, they finished off and left the stage. Dre then appeared with Ren, Cube, and Snoop again, and a huge NWA banner was dropped, and they did Chin Check for the encore. Funny thing is, mad people were leaving at this point... Ok, that's it....one more thing, that comedian was really funny, and if anyone knows his name, I'd appreciate it. He went off on Cash Money BTW, and did an absolutely dead on parody of Ha that had the crowd in tears.... Peace, -- MF
